Loophead Labs LLC ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") develops PlotForge Desktop, a locally installed AI-powered creative writing application (the "Software"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal information with care and respect.

Purchase Information:

Payment information is collected and processed by our third-party payment processor at the time of purchase
We do not store complete credit card numbers or payment card details
We retain only the information necessary for license fulfillment and customer support (e.g., email address, purchase date, license key)

2.2 Information Stored Locally (Not Collected by Us)

The following data is created and stored entirely on your local device. We do not have access to, collect, or transmit this data:

Stories, manuscripts, and narrative works you create
Character profiles and descriptions
Story outlines and plot structures
Notes, worldbuilding entries, and creative materials
Application settings and preferences
Chat history with your local AI models

2.3 Information Sent Automatically

The Software connects to the internet only for the purposes below. None of these requests contain your projects, writing, or AI conversations.

Free Trial Registration:

When you start the free trial, the Software creates a random device ID (it is not derived from your hardware or any personal information) and sends it, with your operating system name (for example, "windows"), to https://plotforge.app
We store the device ID, the operating system name, and the date your trial started, so the trial cannot simply be restarted

License Activation and Checks:

When you activate a license, the Software sends your license key and an installation name made from your platform type (for example, "Win32") and a timestamp to our payment and licensing provider, Lemon Squeezy, at https://api.lemonsqueezy.com
Lemon Squeezy returns your license status and the name and email address on your purchase, which the Software stores on your device
About once a week, the Software sends your license key and installation ID to Lemon Squeezy to confirm the license is still valid
When you deactivate a license, the Software sends your license key and installation ID to Lemon Squeezy

Update Checks:

Each time it starts, and when you check for updates, the Software asks https://plotforge.app whether a newer version is available
Updates are downloaded from https://plotforge.app

Network Information:

As with any internet request, these connections reveal your IP address to the server that receives them (ours, or Lemon Squeezy's for license requests). Our hosting provider may record IP addresses in server logs used for security and troubleshooting. We do not use IP addresses to identify you or to track your activity

2.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

We do not collect your creative writing content
We do not see your AI interactions (these happen between the Software and the AI app running on your own computer)
We do not use analytics, crash reporting, cookies, or tracking technologies
We do not require an account or login

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we collect for the following purposes:

Register your free trial and prevent it from being restarted
Deliver, activate, and validate your software license
Provide customer support related to your purchase

Lemon Squeezy: sells PlotForge licenses as our merchant of record, processes payments, and issues, activates, and validates license keys
Hosting provider: runs https://plotforge.app, which handles trial registration, update checks, and update downloads
Email service provider: sends transactional emails (purchase confirmations and support replies)

All service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify.

10. Third-Party AI Models

PlotForge Desktop works with AI models that you install and run yourself through Ollama or LM Studio on your own computer. The Software sends AI requests, including the project content they contain, only to that AI app on your computer (localhost); it refuses addresses on any other machine. Your prompts and generated content are never sent to Loophead Labs LLC.

You are responsible for reviewing the privacy policies and license terms of any AI models you choose to use with the Software.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements.

When we make material changes:
